Tick Removal Posted or Updated on 4 Apr 2024

Reminder to patients - advice is to go direct to a Pharmacy for a tick remover tool in the first instance. However, if you have tried removing but the head is left in, please go to NHS Inform

www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/injuries/skin-injuries/tick-bites

which has information on how to remove a tick, and clearly states what to do if head left in.

If it becomes red and infected please contact your local Pharmacy in the first instance, if this worsens thereafter please get in touch with the surgery. Thank you for your co-operation.
